I don’t know what rock I’ve been hiding under, but I’m glad that Mike Collins of RehabList.com told me about the Inman Real Estate Connect Conference ! This conference has a tagline of “Where Real Estate Meets Technology” which gave me a hint that this was the perfect place for someone (like me) who is interested in the rapidly growing trend of Virtual Real Estate Investing. The reason I haven’t heard of this conference is because it is more taiored to Realtors and those who service the more traditional Real Estate paradigm. I’ve been networking like crazy but haven’t yet found another “creative” real estate investor which is indicative of the fact that there just isn’t really much knowledge exchange between our world and their world. On the first day of the event, I picked up some incredible insight into how this camp is using blogs to build buyers lists, sell properties, to brand themselves and to disseminate news on the various markets the bloggers are familiar with. My biggest takeaway from that session was that realtors are becoming more tech savvy and I’m surprised how quickly they are embracing new technology and how they are finding ways to use technology to MAKE MORE MONEY. No offense to you if you are a realtor, but I kinda always looked at realtors as if they just didn’t “get it” and that we creative real estate investors were on the cutting edge, employing the smartest strategies and leaving the realtors in the dust when it came to dollars earned per transaction. Well, these guys aren’t the dinosaurs I had imagined. This is the 12th (!!)
