mnartists.org | The Minneapolis Institute of Arts The Minneapolis Institute of Arts + Add to Collection Contact Information address: 2400 Third Ave. South Minneapolis MN 55102 Mission The Minneapolis Institute of Arts is dedicated to national leadership in bringing art and people together to discover, enjoy, and understand the world’s diverse artistic heritage. In 1883, twenty-five citizens of Minneapolis founded the Minneapolis Society of Fine Arts, committing them to bringing the arts into the life of their community. More than a century later, the museum they created, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, stands as a monument to a remarkable history of civic involvement and cultural achievement. Designed by the preeminent New York architectural firm McKim, Mead and White, the original building opened its doors in 1915. A neoclassical landmark in the Twin Cities, the MIA expanded in 1974 with an addition designed by the late Japanese architect Kenzo Tange. In June 2006, the museum unveiled a new wing designed by architect Michael Graves. The MIA's permanent collection has grown from eight hundred works of art to around one hundred thousand objects. The collection includes world-famous works that embody the highest levels of artistic achievement, spanning five thousand years and representing the world's diverse cultures across all continents. The MIA has seven curatorial areas: Africa, Oceania, and the Americas; Architecture, Design, Decorative Arts, Craft, and Sculpture; Asian Art; Paintings and Modern Sculpture; Photographs; Prints and Drawings; and Textiles.

PMIMY - Project Management Institute Malaysia Chapter

PMIMY - Project Management Institute Malaysia Chapter Region 10 Mentoring Workshop The PMI Malaysia (PMIMY) chapter created a historic PMI moment by hosting the Region 10 Mentoring Workshop in Kuala Lumpur on 31 July 2007. This regional mentoring program was led by Component Mentor Gordon Bartlett with support from the Asia Pacific Service Center. The participants were represented by chapter leaders from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. Gordon started by presenting on the development of the new Region 15 structure for South East Asia and gave further insights on the alignment of chapters’ strategy with PMI’s strategic plan. David Goh from the APSC provided a much anticipated update on the branch and chapter model, centering on the formation criteria, governance and performance management framework. Iain Fraser, who had flown in for the 3rd Annual Mastering IT Project Management conference , dropped by with updates from the PMI Board of Directors. The theme of the workshop focused on developing action plans to progress on two key issues that were outlined during the 2007 Region 10 Leadership Institute Meeting in Hong Kong namely PMI membership retention and voluteerism. Challenges were tabled for discussion, and so were brand awareness, positioning and its acceptance by the project management profession. Gordon guided the participants through lively breakout sessions to brainstorm on developing action plans and desired outcomes relevant for each chapter. As takeaways from the thought-provoking event, each chapter leadership was tasked to follow up on the action plans proposed for the two key issues (PMI membership retention and volunteerism), and to share the progress with the other regions in subsequent teleconferences.
