Faculty of Agriculture (09-11-2002) Web site www.agri.ankara.edu.tr Origin of the Faculty of Agriculture of Ankara University goes back to the establishment of the “Institute of Technology for Agriculture” in 1933, the nation’s first and most advanced center for agricultural education and research at the time. The Institute continued its activity with Agriculture, Agricultural Technology, Forestry, Science and Veterinary Medicine Faculties until 1948. Then Faculty of Agricultural Technology united with the Faculty of Agriculture, and placed under the administration of Ankara University which had been established in 1946. Since its inception the Faculty of Agriculture has continued to play an important role in the overall development of agricultural technology and practice in the country, providing the nation with highly qualified agricultural experts and scientists. Until 1955, the Faculty of Agriculture was the only institution of agriculture for the nation. Since then the Faculty has played a vital role as a “mother" faculty in founding of the faculties of agriculture at the following universities: Ege University, Atatürk University, Çukurova and Uludað University. Number of graduates from the Faculty of Agriculture has reached about 16.000, many with MSc and PhD degrees. Its academic staff has authored the publication of about 600 books and thousand of papers and reviews since its establishment. Today the Faculty of Agriculture continues to provide top quality research and education both in undergraduate and graduate level. Its campus area houses modern lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, social facilities, sports centers, research and practice plots.
